Reading can be a challenging undertaking for many children. The Reading Rope, pictured below, was created by Dr. Hollis Scarborough, to capture the essence of reading. She originally spoke about skilled reading resembling the "strands" of a rope and would use pipe cleaners to illustrate the interconnectedness and interdependence of all the main components reading encompasses.
