Since its inception in 1970, the Pre-University Seminar has been an important platform to engage young people, who will be the future leaders of our nation, in better appreciating and understanding local and global developments, the values and fundamentals that have brought about Singapore's progress, and the opportunities and challenges ahead of us as a nation.
Increasingly it is important to engage our young to reflect on our national identity and values as well as in envisioning a shared future together. Hence the objectives of Pre-University Seminar 2022 are to:
Deepen participants' understanding of the Singapore identity and values in the evolving social, economic and political context.
Raise participants' awareness of the opportunities and challenges for Singapore amid this period of disruption and transformation.
Empower participants to generate possibilities, ideas and solutions in charting SIngapore's future as one united people.
Nurture teamwork and camaraderie among participants across institutions.
The Pre-University Seminar has traditionally been a fully residential programme held in an autonomous university. The last two years have upended these arrangements. As mark of the gradual return to normalcy, the Seminar will take place in a fully in-person mode at the organising college, NJC, with no residential component.
