Students may bring mobile device to school for the purpose of communication after school hours. All mobile devices must be switched off and kept in the lockers during school hours. Non-adherence will lead to the mobile device being confiscated and handed over to the Student Management Committee.
This move is in view of the introduction of Personal Learning Devices (PLD) to all students. CTSS’ choice of PLD is the Apple iPad. With PLDs, students can access digital learning resources with ease, and without need for their mobile devices. Hence, a distinction is made between the intended use of mobile devices (i.e. for communication with family) and PLDs (i.e. for learning purposes).
We encourage all students to come to school by 7.25 a.m. every morning, allowing them 10 minutes to secure their phones in the lockers before assembly starts at 7.35 a.m. The 10 minutes allowance will provide them with ample time to lock their phones in the lockers and proceed to the assembly area by 7.35 a.m.
Our policy aims to foster punctuality in our students, as well as responsibility in managing their own belongings, skills that will serve the students well beyond their school years.
The code of conduct for our students is anchored on our school values – Adaptability, Self-discipline, Perseverance, Integrity, Respect and Empathy. When students have disciplinary issues, our approach emphasises on helping them take personal responsibility for the misbehaviour. We recognise that as our students grow up, they will sometimes make mistakes. It is therefore important for the school to work with the students and their parents to address the misbehavior.
Depending on the severity of the offence, the school will set out consequences for the student, which can be in the form of warning, detention, suspension or caning. In addition, our team of well-trained teachers will counsel students, to help them reflect upon the root cause of their misbehavior and understand the impact on others in the school community. They will also be guided to restore relationships with others whom they may have hurt in the course of their misbehavior.
Ear piercing and wearing ear studs or sticks are not allowed for boys. Girls are only allowed to wear plain gold, black or silver ear studs, and one ear stud per ear.
To alleviate traffic congestion, we encourage parents to drop off our students at the public carpark beside CTSS. There is a sheltered walkway from the public carpark that leads to our side gate, which we open daily from 6.30 a.m. This approach helps minimise the number of cars queuing to enter the school gates via the main road and provides a safer, less stressful start to the school day for everyone.
