From 2024 onwards, MOE will remove streaming from all secondary schools. Students will no longer be banded into Express, Normal Academic (NA) or Normal Technical (NT) classes. Instead, students will be grouped in mixed-form classes and can opt for different subject levels suited to them.
These subject levels will be designated as G1, G2, and G3, with ‘G’ referring to ‘General’.
Using PSLE results as the gauge, students are given the flexibility to take subjects at suitable levels based on their strengths and learning needs.
With Full SBB, we are moving towards a single secondary education with multiple subject bands to better meet our students’ learning needs, without labelling the streams. This is part of the broader shift in our education system to recognise the strengths and interests of our children, helping them build their confidence and develop an intrinsic motivation to learn for life.
Within the form class, students will have lessons together for common curriculum subjects in Lower Secondary.
These subjects are:
Art
Design & Technology
Food and Consumer Education
Music
Physical Education
CCE
For the remaining academic subjects, students will be grouped in classes depending on the level of subjects they are taking, which can be G1, G2, or G3.
