Reparing or Replacing your PLD

Warranty (School loaned PLDs)

Warranty from defects in materials and workmanship is for the period of one year. This warranty is only valid for the first 12 months from the date CHIJKC takes delivery of the PLD. This limited warranty covers normal use, mechanical breakdown, or faulty construction and will provide replacement parts necessary to repair or if necessary, replace the PLD. The warranty DOES NOT cover damage caused by misuse, abuse, or accidents. Please report all PLD problems to the ICT Service Desk.

If a PLD becomes defective (at no fault of the student) after the warranty expires, CHIJKC will replace the PLD with a refurbished PLD of the same age or newer, and at no charge to the person concerned.

Accidental Damage or Loss Protection (School loaned PLDs):

CHIJKC requires that a police report be submitted in cases of theft. CHIJKC will assess the PLD damage and repair or replace the device if the damage is determined to be accidental and within the protection guidelines.

You/ Your Parents are charged for the full replacement cost of a device that has been damaged due to intentional misuse or abuse.

PLDs Undergoing Repair:

● School-loaned PLDs may be issued to you when you leave their PLD for repair at the ICT Service Desk.

● If repair is needed due to malicious damage, the school reserves the right to refuse you a school-loaned PLD.

● Repaired PLDs will end up with the original factory image. It is important that you keep your school data synced to cloud drives so documents and class projects are not lost. Personal information that cannot be replaced should be kept at home on an external storage device.

● You/ Your parents will be charged for PLD damage that is a result of misuse or abusive handling. You/ Your parents will be billed for parts and labor incurred.
