TURKEY
As part of their Erasmus+ cultural exploration, our students conducted research into Istanbul’s rich culinary heritage. Focusing on how traditional food reflects history, culture, and identity, they explored the stories behind some of the city’s most iconic dishes.
Students studied well-known specialties such as Sultanahmet Köftesi, Turkish Delight (Lokum), Eminönü Balık Ekmek, and Beykoz Kebabı. They examined each dish’s origins, historical background, and cultural importance, then presented their findings to their peers—many also shared their own experiences of tasting the dishes.
This project allowed students to engage with their own cultural roots while strengthening their research, presentation, and intercultural communication skills. It also highlighted how food can serve as a powerful gateway to understanding local and global traditions.
