As part of an Erasmus+ environmental project, our students aged 14 to 16 investigated the increasing problem of pollution and mucilage in the Bosphorus — a vital natural and cultural landmark of Istanbul.
Based on their field research and visual documentation, they identified key causes such as untreated wastewater, plastic waste, and rising sea temperatures. Their findings showed how mucilage severely disrupts marine life and threatens the ecological balance of the area.
This project gave students the opportunity to develop environmental awareness and take responsibility for raising public consciousness. By sharing the results of their work, they hope to inspire local and international action for a cleaner, healthier Bosphorus and a more sustainable future.
