Our students, aged 16, including those with fewer opportunities, participated in an exciting and collaborative project centered on the unique natural reserve of the Camargue, located near their community. This extraordinary region, known for its rich biodiversity and stunning landscapes, served as the perfect setting for the students to explore the wonders of nature and deepen their learning.
The project focused on the Pink Flamingo, an iconic bird that thrives in the Camargue during its migratory journey. Students chose this species because of its prominent presence in the area and their personal experiences observing and studying it in its natural habitat. Through their research, they explored the bird’s characteristics, behaviors, and its vital role in the ecosystem of the Camargue.
Teamwork was a core element of the project. Students worked collaboratively to prepare an engaging and informative presentation on the Pink Flamingo, blending scientific research with creative storytelling to capture its beauty and significance. They investigated its migratory patterns, feeding habits, and the environmental factors that make the Camargue a crucial stop on its journey.
To make the learning experience interactive and fun for their international partners, the students designed a Kahoot quiz based on their findings. This quiz challenged participants to test their knowledge about the Pink Flamingo and the Camargue, sparking curiosity and fostering cultural and ecological exchange.
This project not only highlighted the unique natural reserve of the Camargue but also showcased the power of teamwork and inclusive learning. By combining field observations, research, and creative activities, students gained a deeper appreciation for their local environment and its global significance.
The initiative strengthened their understanding of the interconnectedness of nature, inspiring them to protect and celebrate the treasures of the Camargue while sharing their discoveries with partners from different cultures. Through teamwork, they created a bridge between education, nature, and community, leaving a lasting impression on all who participated.
