Mr. Prabhakar Kikkeri, initially briefed us about Zeiss company through a short video and various processes carried out in the company. He later explained the basics of metrology through examples and also conducted quiz sessions to get the students actively involved in the session. He also enlightened the students about the various measurement standards that are practiced in the industry. Finally, he guided the students on how to start a career in the field of metrology and measurements.

Mr. Donson, began the talk with a case study of his own company. He told the students the various issues that were involved in starting the company. He briefed the students about the marketing survey and financial aspects that were to be taken care of when starting a new firm. He then discussed patenting and its importance.

Mr. Sudarshan Patwardhan,. began with various types of destructive testings conducted in the industry. He explained the different types of hardness tests and stressed each one of their significance. He later explained the different Non Destructive techniques and specifically stressed Ultrasonic Testing. The topic was beneficial for the student to study the course Material Science and Metallurgy and Mechanics of Materials, understand the topics on Different types of Hardness tests and also their applications. He also enlightened students regarding courses on NDT and its importance.

Mr. Ashwin began with an interaction with the students to get to know about the dreams of the students after the completion of engineering. He then shared his experience as a student and motivated the students to take part in extra-curricular activities. He also stressed on the importance of academics in facing interviews. He then gave examples of people who are successful in their lives due to hard work and enlightened the students about the value of hard work and persistence.

Dr. Torii has initially briefed us about Kumamoto University, Japan and the practices followed there. He explained the topics regarding Global Warming and Green House Effects and motivated the audience on the usage of waste materials for energy production. He explained the benefits of Bio Fuels and also gave us some research examples. The topic was beneficial for the student to study different courses in Mechanical Engineering, understand the need for clean energy and know the importance of renewable energy sources

This was followed by an interactive session between the students and the guest which aided in clarification of queries raised.
