Distinguish
BETWEEN SPEED AND VELOCITY IN LINEAR MOTION IN TERMS OF DISTANCE, DISPLACEMENT, AND DIRECTION
Including, but not limited to:
Speed – a rate at which an object travels a distance
Velocity – a rate at which an object changes its position
Distance – a measurement of length between two points
Displacement – a measurement of length and direction between a starting point and an ending point
Linear motion – motion of an object in only one direction
Distinguishing speed and velocity in linear motion
In linear motion, speed and velocity are similar, but velocity includes direction.
A car travels in a straight-line east at 30 kilometers per hour.
The speed of the car is 30 km/h.
The velocity of the care is 30 km/h east.
