Story #014:
Henry F. & Sanjay M.

Henry Fischer, 8th Grader

Story by Cecilia M.

"Today, I wore a blue shirt and I know Sanjay M., who is wearing a gray shirt. We share common interests such as mini golf and Fortnite, and we are both in the 8th grade.

One thing we differ on is that I have divorced parents. During my childhood, grilled cheese became a huge comfort food for me during this challenging time. Although I was young when they divorced, I still remember how much I enjoyed grilled cheese and how it helped me overcome the tough moments.

I feel proud to be considered one of Sanjay's inspirations, as I try to positively influence him through my own good decisions. My mom, who had an amazing perspective on life, helped me know the importance of being the best person I can be for my friends."

Sanjay M., 8th Grader

Story by Avery J.

"I am grateful to have Henry F. as a close friend who supports me through challenges. He serves as my biggest inspiration because of his strong influence. I hope to be like him in many ways. While both of us share a love for golf, he prefers mini-golf while I play traditional golf. However, I am considering trying out mini-golf soon.

I also started playing Fortnite because of Henry and found some enjoyment in it. We happen to be in the eighth grade together, too. I  am a loyal Michigan Fan.  And I am attempting to convince Henry to like them too so that we can have another common interest.

Henry doesn't discuss his parents' divorce a ton, but I listen closely whenever he brings it up, hoping to learn from his experiences because I want to truly understand him and what makes up his personality."
