Cardiovascular Endurance

What is Cardiovascular Endurance?

Cardiovascular Endurance is efficient the heart, blood vessels, lungs can work together to supply oxygen to the muscles in order to use it as energy during physical activity for a prolonged period of time.

The harder you work, the more energy is required for the muscles to use in order to perform properly.

As your cardiovascular endurance improves, you are able to perform aerobic activity for a longer period of time.

Heart Rate Zones and Max Heart Rate

Understanding what your Max Heart Rate is will allow you to understand how long and hard you need to work in order to meet your personal fitness goals.

How Do You Calculate Your Max Heart Rate? It is as simple as subtracting your age from 220.

Heart Rate Zones provide information on what you need to do in order to meet your Cardiovascular Endurance Goals. Maintaining your heart rate at a certain level for a certain amount of time will provide different results.

For example, if a sprinter wanted to train for his/her upcoming season, he/she will have to keep their heart rate level near or above 90% of their Max Heart Rate between 1 - 5 minutes.

If you wanted to improve your heart health, and reduce your resting heart rate, you would want to keep your heart rate within 70% - 80% of your max heart rate between 10 - 40 minutes.
