How do characters and story evolve when common nostalgic themes/elements, mixed w/ experimentation of materials, are added? I strived to combine my love for character design and storytelling w/ the common nostalgic themes of the 90's/2000's. I developed original characters based on the idea of nostalgic memories & expressing that design and story through different mediums. I created the nostalgic themes through settings and environments like an old summer camp cabin filled with children's drawings, a cluttered school classroom / brightly saturated colored objects spewed about.

How can I explore different digital art techniques to enhance my understanding of art and my personal artistic style? How can branching out of my comfort zone by attempting varying art styles develop my personal style when I return to my preferred digital art methods? I wished to create a multitude of artworks, unlike the realistic portraiture I’m used to, in an attempt to create pieces with more creativity and elements of dark fantasy rather than artworks confined to the real world. I wished to see how I could further texturize, exaggerate, and push my artistic abilities beyond photorealism.

How can I explore characterization and memory through the creation of armor and tools for Dungeons & Dragons?

Because I took AP Art my junior year, this year was more of an experimentation year so I don't have a solid SI. Throughout the year I explored new processes (layering), subjects, techniques (symmetry), tools (digital/physical, spirographs), and levels of detail. The purpose of this is to learn how to make more original and thought-provoking art. The artworks have meaning to me, but they are meant to be up to interpretation for others.

S.I. How can I create visually appealing works of art through layering and mixed media that focus on composition and are based on personally curated object attachments that expand to include people, music, and memories? I use some of my favorite songs as the inspiration behind several pieces, drawing connections between my life and the meanings of the lyrics. I incorporate some of my favorite people as the subject matter, and include a few self-portraits to emphasize my viewpoint and that I'm the curator of these visually represented thoughts & memories.

The question that guided my sustained investigation was "how can I best take stories from classical mythology and Lovecraftian narratives to reinterpret them to reflect my unique artistic conceptions of themes, characters, and, especially, the deities featured therein?" I went from using colored pencil and water color in my first two projects to experimenting with cold water dye, micron pen, gouache, and tempra paint to provide the proper color and mood to my pieces while also preserving my intricate and complex line work.

Ever since I first learned of human ancestry back in middle school, the question of where humans originated has piqued my curiosity. A series of paintings showing the evolution of humanity had been brewing in my mind for a long time. How can I present the evolution of humanity in a chronological series of illustrations highlighting the characteristics and attributes of what defines a human, including: society, dexterity, intelligence, and physical features? In what ways can I visualize these inquiries while also improving my ability to evoke emotions within my work?
