My body of work focuses on navigating South Asian identity through the perspective of a second-generation immigrant. Four stages of emotion reflect the mental and physical attributes of self-discovery: isolation, resentment, acceptance, and embracing. My investigation especially examines the South Asian diaspora by exploring India's subcultures and diverse regions.

How can I inspire empathetic and analytical conversation about debated topics relating to religious ideologies through ambiguous artworks? How can I further support this idea through digital paintings utilizing color, textured brushes, religious symbolism, and repeated imagery (such as water or space)? I wanted to develop my skills by creating works that showed the complexities of religion, showing it as something larger than good or bad

I am developing character designs with an emphasis on costume concept art with a focus on using visual symbolism and color to illustrate characters from the novel Little Thieves by Margaret Owen. The novel is set in Renaissance Germany, which informs many of the details and silhouettes found within my pieces. Using key components from the plot to drive the art, I create images rich with meaning and characterizations. As well as character portraits, I created illustrations for the face cards in a standard deck, using the suits of cards found in the novel through card games ran by the main character, Vanja.

I am exploring ways to create dreamscape imagery through the production of portraits, intertwining pen & various paint media. I create works that are inspired by a multitude of different types of realism & include 2D design to form dynamic compositions that focus on rhythm & vibrant colors to create emphasis. I use layers of varying materials to establish depth & cohesion within my foreground, middle ground, and background.

The inquiry that guided my sustained investigation is how I can encourage sustainable consumerism through re-imagining and transforming iconic examples of single-use waste into functional and reusable ceramic pieces in the trompe l'oeil style and a subtle ode to pop art.

S.I. How can I create visually appealing works of art through layering and mixed media that focus on composition and are based on personally curated object attachments that expand to include people, music, and memories? I use some of my favorite songs as the inspiration behind several pieces, drawing connections between my life and the meanings of the lyrics. I incorporate some of my favorite people as the subject matter, and include a few self-portraits to emphasize my viewpoint and that I'm the curator of these visually represented thoughts & memories.

S.I. My portfolio works in tandem with my portfolio from last year. Each piece in this body of work explores a fear that correlates to a previous work based on an urban legend, as well as carefully choosing personal feelings of anxiety and ideologies to convey emotions more accurately. The main character within each piece is Oneirophobos, who increases by one in each piece to represent increasing fear, as well as each containing a flower relating to the fear. I am using light, color, forced perspective, and body horror to establish a dreamlike story line that’s filled with space and symbolism. My medium is colored pencils.

My body of work explores the beauty of flowers through a variety of mediums: watercolor, acrylic paint, colored pencil, & clay. I investigate the use of positive and negative space within each composition. The main elements of art: form, shape, color, and value, are utilized to create depth and dimension. I utilize these art elements to explore flowers rendered in realism, design, and 3D work. I wanted to take a familiar form that has been repeated throughout art for centuries and discover how to make it aesthetically appealing.
