Captain Elias Gedney is a Coasterman, a sailor who plies trade routes along the coasts England, and across the channel into France and the Netherlands, carrying cargo for hire. He works his ship in and around the East Anglian coast, operating out of Yarmouth, carrying woolens and herring out, and soap, salt, and dyestuffs back. It is not a lucrative trade, but a steady one.
Jeff Gedney has been in the SCA for more than 45 years, where he has held the privilege of 1) being recognized a Pelican for his efforts helping the Pennsic University run as well serving in numerous other roles and offices, 2) being recieved as a Laurel for studying and teaching about Maritime topics and sailors in the SCA - from Vikings to Elizabethan Sea Dogs, 3) Getting to interact with and teach people of all experiences, from raw "newbies" to SCA Legends who were "there" at the Last Tourney, and 4) the extraordinary privilege of spending almost a half century in the company of awe-inspiring people doing and making amazing things.
Of these privileges, 3) and 4) are the most dear to my heart.
I joined the SCA because it seemd like fun. I stay because the people I meet keep it fun.

Elias Gedney - Persona basics and workshop
Do you sometimes feel like you need to "step-up" your persona game? does your personal story feel a little hollow or contrived, and it's kind of bugging you?
Capt Elias Gedney will host an open forum for talking about persona planning, and how to approach making the persona you bring out in the SCA seem more real and deep. We'll talk about ways to think about your persona, and address common philosophies people use to address the way they build and frame the "character" that they "hang their SCA on". This is not a judgemental session, nor will there be any discussions of anything anyone HAS to do. It will be workshopping how you THINK about the way you play the SCA.
