Academic Decathlon
Our mission is to promote academic learning in a diverse range of subjects through training for and participating in the Academic Decathlon competition. Students are able to explore a variety of topics to strengthen their general knowledge, which can aid them in many aspects of their education and life.

Competitive Programming Club
The purpose of this club is to educate students on topics pertaining to computer science through engaging them in competitions. We prepare by learning analytical methods to solve computer science-related problems, and also through utilizing computer programming to generate solutions. The members of our club can attend a variety of competitions throughout the year using their knowledge of computer science.

Mathletes
We participate in the county math competitions, state competitions ( University of Maryland Math Competition) and national competitions (AMC 10/AMC12, Interstellar Math Competition). During the club meetings we solve problems, and we present new material to prepare for the competitions.

Quiz Bowl
At Wootton Quiz Bowl, we work as a team to learn, compete, and -- most importantly -- have fun in various academic competitions from the TV program It's Academic to National History Bowl! We encourage anyone who wants to deepen their knowledge in subjects such as science, literature, history, music, art, pop culture, and more!

Science Bowl
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) National Science Bowl® is a nationwide academic competition that tests students’ knowledge in all areas of science and mathematics. Thomas S. Wootton High School’s Science Bowl team promotes the significance of science education and fosters a lifelong love for science. We train, compete and participate in the Maryland State Science Bowl competition against other schools.

Science Olympiad
The purpose of the Wootton Science Olympiad Team is to enrich students’ knowledge in the sciences and promote engagement in STEM subjects. Participants will explore topics in biology, chemistry, physics, astronomy, and other sciences through videos, speakers, outreach, competitions, etc. The Wootton community will be greatly benefitted to have a competitively recognized Science Olympiad Team that encourages students’ exploration in the science subjects.
