Required Documents

Introduction

IDEA and Maryland law require certain documents to be provided to parents during specific meetings. This section identifies the required documents and the instances where the documents must be provided. In all cases, any document to be reviewed at the IEP meeting must be provided to the parent five-business days prior to the IEP meeting pursuant to the Five-Day Document Rule.

Required Documents

  • Parental Rights, Maryland Procedural Safeguards Notice

      • Upon initial referral or parent request for evaluation;

      • Upon receipt of the first State complaint and upon receipt of the first due process complaint in a school year;

      • In accordance with the discipline procedures for students with disabilities; and

      • Upon request by a parent.

  • Maryland Insurance Administrations Guide to Habilitative Services

      • The transition meeting for a child moving from MCITP to a local school system;

      • A child's initial or reevaluation IEP meeting;

      • At least one time each year at a child's IEP meeting; and

      • On the approval or denial of a parent's or guardian's request for a related service to enable a child with a disability to benefit from special education.

  • Transition Planning Guide, Graduation Requirements and Other Related Documents

      • Provided at any meeting where Transition Services will be reviewed or discussed.
