Apprenticeship opportunities will be posted here on an ongoing basis. If you see one that interests you and the date has passed, reach out to the organization to see if there are other dates scheduled for the future and to find out more about what they offer.
For rising 11th and 12th grade students, the MCPS Apprenticeship Maryland Program allows students to complete a paid Work-Based Learning experience with an employer during the school day and earn high school credit that counts toward graduation.
There are also apprenticeship opportunities and organizations for students getting ready to graduate or who have already earned their high school diploma.
The Maryland Department of Labor has an Apprenticeship Locator site where post-secondary apprenticeship opportunities are available for students to review and apply.
Maryland State Department of Education Apprenticeship Maryland Program Youth apprenticeship program for students, ages 16 and up, that is designed to lead to sustainable employment and further education based on career pathways in manufacturing and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) occupations or other occupations within the CTE Career Clusters. Restaurant Association of Maryland Apprenticeship Programs The Maryland Apprenticeship Program provides both new and current restaurant and foodservice employees the opportunity to advance their careers and move into high paying line cook and management positions. The program is offered through a partnership between the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) and the Restaurant Association of Maryland Education Foundation (RAMEF).
MD-Apprenticeships The MD-Apprentices program places high school graduates, college graduates, and careers changers into paid childcare apprenticeships across diverse communities working with vulnerable populations. In addition to structured on-the-job training, each apprenticeship will participate in childcare certification courses and professional development activities designed to prepare them for future careers in childcare.

Local 5 Plumbers and Gasfitters Training Center will host an Open House on Friday, November 17th from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at 5000 Forbes Boulevard, Lanham, MD. During this session, you'll have the chance to learn more about the day in the life of an apprentice and gain a comprehensive understanding of the program. Plus, there will be an opportunity to apply onsite, so you can take the first step towards a rewarding career with WMATA's Elevator/Escalator Department (ELES).
ABOUT THE ELEVATOR/ESCALATOR APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM:
WMATA's ELES is responsible for maintaining and repairing nearly 1,000 pieces of vertical transportation equipment within the DC Metro system. The Elevator/Escalator Apprenticeship Program is recognized and accredited by APTA and the Washington D.C. Apprentice Council. This program is designed to train aspiring technicians to become certified Journeymen.
As an apprentice, you will complete both formal and on-the-job training over a four-year period. Upon successful completion, you will earn Journeyman certification and up to 16 college credits. Additionally, WMATA offers competitive pay and benefits, including health benefits, a pension plan, technical training, on-the-job learning opportunities, mentoring, and coaching.
Wages for apprentices start at $34.35 per hour and incrementally rise to $57.25 after the successful completion of the four-year program.

The U.A. (United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters of the United States and Canada) provides training material and class outlines to all affiliated Apprentice Training Programs. Once Apprentices graduate from the Program, they are able to work as Plumbers in other areas of the country when employment opportunities present themselves, or they can relocate entirely should the need arise. Plumber Apprentices assist experienced Plumber Journeypersons in the installation and servicing of plumbing systems. The Apprentices are paid for this employment. Apprentices receive required certification classes and obtain Journeypersons Licenses. MORE INFORMATION

The Washington, D.C. Joint Plumbing Apprenticeship Committee is dedicated to training apprentice plumbers and pipefitters, on behalf of the United Association of Plumbers Local 5 & Contractor Association. The five-year program, provided to qualified applicants, combines intensive technical classroom instruction at the school’s state-of-the-art facility with on-the-job training. MORE INFORMATION
