CAREER READINESS & EXPLORATION
A career is all the productive work—paid and unpaid—performed throughout a person's lifetime. Career education provides students with opportunities to learn about their interests, to become aware and appreciate a range of careers, and to develop decision-making, job-seeking, and job-keeping skills. Explore the links below to help make informed career choices:
Naviance is used for college planning and career exploration. Tenth graders will do a Career Interest Profiler and Career Cluster Finder Survey with counseling staff in the spring. Eleventh graders will learn how to search for and research colleges online.
Meet-A-Pro is a collaboration between the Montgomery County Career Advising Program and Magruder High School to host discussions with professionals in different fields, bringing information about career options to high school students. These events are hosted by Magruder High School but are open to all MCPS families. During the 2025-26 school year, we are happy to offer four Meet-A-Pro sessions:

REGISTER TO TAKE THE ASVAB AT MAGRUDER
The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) is administered free to interested tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grade students with parental consent. The ASVAB is an excellent career exploration tool. It can help identify student interests and aptitude in the following areas: verbal, math, science and technical skills. When scores are interpreted, students will learn how their interests and skills relate to the demands of more than 400 occupations, helping them to identify suitable career options.
COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT THE ASVAB
ASVAB results are released only to students and not to the armed services. If students wish to use their results as part of an enlistment conversation with military recruiters, they can provide their scores to the recruiter. Taking the ASVAB in no way involves a commitment to the military.
There are currently no scheduled ASVAB test administrations for Magruder High School.
