EXAMINATIONS / ASSESSMENTS
Exams play an important role in our assessment program. Year 9s will undertake an exam in English and Maths at the end of the year, while Year 10s will do end-of-semester exams in English, Mathematics, Science & History/Geography. Year 11s have end-of-unit exams for all subjects, taking place in June and November.
Approximately 4 weeks prior to the exam period, students and staff will be notified of the dates/times of individual exams.
EXAM . ASSESSMENT RULES FOR STUDENTS
The following exam rules will be communicated to students prior to each exam period:
If a student is unable to attend an exam due to illness, a telephone call from a parent/guardian will be required on the morning of the exam. A medical certificate must be provided to the Student Managers when the student returns to school.
Full school uniform must be worn to all exams.
Students must arrive at least 15 minutes before the designated start time for the exam and line up in class groups.
All classes will file into the exam room in an orderly fashion. There will be no talking as soon as students enter the exam room.
Students should go to the toilet before entering the exam room. Only in emergencies will students be permitted to go to the toilet during an exam..
Food is NOT permitted in the exam room; however, water in a clear unlabelled bottle is acceptable.
Pens/pencils and other equipment must be in a clear pencil case or plastic pocket.
If students are late, and the exam has already started, they must report to one of the teachers supervising the exam. Normally no extra time will be given.
Students should NOT have a pen or pencil in their hands during reading time.
Students are NOT allowed to communicate in any way, or for any reason, with other students in the exam room.
Students may NOT leave the exam room before the scheduled finishing time.
When students are told to stop writing, they should remain quietly in their seats until exam papers have been collected and they are dismissed.
In accordance with both College and the VCAA policies, mobile phones and other electronic/smart devices must NOT be taken into the exam/assessment room. Scientific/CAS calculators may be used when completing an assessment task, as directed by the teacher.
All students must leave the exam room in an orderly fashion as directed by the supervising teachers. Students are not to talk until they have left the exam centre.
The College calendar includes the earliest date exam results can be released. All exam results are embargoed until this time.
