Current Year 8 - 11 Students

Subject selections OPEN online (email sent to students with instructions): 8pm Thursday 7th August

Subject selections CLOSE online: 9am Monday 18th August

VCE VM Information Session: 4.30pm Monday 11th August

COURSE SELECTION GENERAL GUIDANCE

• STEP 1 - Read the information on this site carefully and find out specifically what each subject entails. Discuss these with your parents.

• STEP 2 - For students entering Years 11 & 12, careers sessions with the Careers Advisers are critical. These sessions will help you to understand the importance of choosing your subjects carefully to ensure that you meet any prerequisites for tertiary courses you may be considering.

• STEP 3 - Students may wish to see Learning Area Managers to gain more information about the content of the units offered.

• STEP 4 - Discuss your progress with your current teachers.  They know you and may be able to help you decide if your future is in a particular direction.

• STEP 5 - Students will be issued an email and password where the subject selection will be completed online. Students will have just over a week to complete the selection and student managers will be able to track completed selections.  Final selections are due on the date stated above.

• STEP 6 - Subjects will be placed in possible timetable blocks as determined by students’ subject choice. This may require some students to modify their choices.

• STEP 7 - October/November:  All Year 8, 9, 10 and 11 students will be interviewed to check and modify their courses, depending on their results.  This completes the MIPs process for the year.  Some students MAY have to make subject changes later in the year if a subject initially offered does not go ahead (due to a lack of numbers) or timetable clashes.
