Year 9-13 SPEC - South Pacific Educational Courses (Courses for Supported Learning)

SPEC courses provide an exciting alternative pathway to ensuring students have success. The emphasis is on co-operation and collaboration, rewarding achievement and assisting progression of learning. The Supported Learning Certificate qualification provides a creditable outcome for students who will not achieve at NCEA Level 1.

Prerequisites: Y9-13 Ministry Funded students

Recoveries: $25.00 towards the cost of workbooks

Year 11-13 New Zealand Certificate in Skills for Living for Supported Learners (with an optional strand in Skills for Working)

This qualification is intended for learners who require some form of support with their learning either through additional resources, specialised equipment or adapted teaching programmes. They are people with learning disabilities and include those with intellectual disability.

Graduates will have the skills and knowledge for self-managed participation in everyday life in social, cultural, family/whanua and community contexts, with supervision. This includes the ability to apply these skills in educational and work contexts.

Year 11-13 Mercury Bay Area School Certificate in Work Skills

The aim of the MBAS Certificate in Work Skills is to help students develop and demonstrate a range of skills through work-related activities and studies. The course provides a way in which students can gain credit for what they have learnt from the wide variety of activities undertaken in both inside and outside formal education.
