Equipment: A toy monkey! (or other toy).

What to do:
Each day before school, the teacher put the monkey in a different location in the classroom. The students were excited to see where he was and what he was doing (a little like "Elf on the Shelf"!). The monkey's location meant that the teacher could build students' vocabulary and understanding of position, location and orientation. By asking "Where is the monkey today?", the class described where he was using language like above, below, under, over, next to, to the left of, to the right of, on top of, beside...
