STUDENT UNIFORM POLICIES

All students must comply with Student Handbook Policies 

Additional Nursing Program Policy

 

The uniform serves as a means of identification, and must be worn in accordance with school policy.

Uniform:

1.       Uniforms must be clean, pressed, non-revealing and proper fitting.

2.       Uniforms are to be worn for clinical laboratory experiences only. This includes name badge, proper shoes and hose.  Uniforms may be worn to and from the clinical site.

3.       MATC uniforms are not to be worn by students at place of employment or during shadowing experiences.

4.       Female students - If wearing uniform skirt, the length of the uniform skirt should be at least at the knee. Natural color nylons or leggings can be worn with skirt.

5.       The MATC patch is to be sewn onto the left sleeve of the uniform.

6.       The optional white scrub jacket can be worn over the uniform in place of sweater.

7.       All uniforms must have both the MATC/United Health patches and the monogram.

8.       If a shirt is worn under the uniform top, the colors should be white or blue corresponding with the MATC uniform colors.  The sleeves should be an appropriate length as directed by the clinical instructor and facility.       

Shoes:

Clean, white shoes are to be worn by all students when in uniform.  (No clogs, sandals, high heels, canvas tennis shoes, or boots or colored shoe laces are acceptable.  All white clean athletic shoes are acceptable  

Hose:  

            1.         Males / females plain clean socks with pants.

            2.         Females - full length-flesh tone or white nylons with skirt. (neutral colored nylons /leggings with skirt)                  

Name Badge:

 The personal MATC ID badge (Stormer ID) should be worn on a retractable reel, no lanyards will be allowed in the clinical setting.

 Personal:

1.    Hair must be clean, neat, and fastened back off the face and collar when in uniform.

2.    Hair should be natural hair color. 

3.    Simple hair ornaments may be worn.

4.    Beards and mustaches must be neat and trimmed.

5.    Head coverings (hijab/niqab/khimar) may be worn for religious purposes.  The color should correspond with the uniform coloring.

6.    Fingernails are to kept short and clean.  neutral nail polish.NO acryllic, shellac or gel nail polish is to be worn when in uniform.

7.     Appropriate, moderate, day time make-up may be worn when in uniform.

8.    Daily personal hygiene measures should be practiced. 

9.    Deodorants are recommended. 

10.  Colognes and perfumes should not be worn when in uniform.

11.  No hats/caps or bright colored/patterned headbands are allowed.

13.  Students are not to chew gum when in clinical lab or hospital.  

14.  No facial jewelry or gauges should be worn during the clinical day.

15.  One pair of stud earrings are permissible.

 

Professional Attire at Community Health Clinical Settings:

1.    Role appropriate street clothes are worn at clinical agencies. Proper attire includes comfortable clothing with low heeled shoes. Students may not wear jeans, scarves, tightly fitting garments, non-revealing. 

2.    Only one pair of stud earrings may be worn. 

3.    Students must not have long fingernails. No acrylic, shellac or gel nail polish.

4.     Hair must be above the collar. 

5.    Cell phones are not to be used in clinical settings. 

6.    Students must wear their MATC “Stormer” ID.
