Migration Effects:
Cultural: Some people complain that migration leads to the loss of culture in some regions (this can be seen as threatening and can lead to racism and conflict). These new migrants can bring in new languages and cultures which can have an impact. The UK's native languages are English, Welsh, Scottish, and Irish but, thanks to migration, German, French, Polish, Arabic, and Bengali are also heavily spoken.
Political: Immigration can cause a strain on the resources of an area, and a huge impact on healthcare and education. New migrants usually have different political beliefs from the native population. The UK has an ample amount of resources, so they don't really have an issue with migrants causing a strain on the area. However, migration into the UK is causing a rise in the population, and it is beginning to become an issue. It is projected that by 2030 UK will exceed a population of 70 million.
Economic: Gain of income to an area dependent on migration flow. Brain gain can have a positive impact on a region; the region receiving the migrants has a position chance at innovation. The UK has a very high rate of immigration, many skilled and talented workers migrate into the UK for better career opportunities, so the UK has a lot of brain gain. This positively impacts the economy of the UK. The graph to the left displays the contribution of immigrants to the UK's economy.
