IHSA Class 2A Regional Tournament (CHAMPIONS)

WIN- Game 1: Anna-Jonesboro (25-13, 25-12)

• Playing the Class 2A Regional semi-final on their own home court is such a great opportunity... and our Lady Patriots made use of their home court advantage winning in straights sets over the Lady Wildcats.

• Kill leaders: Laken Vickers (8), Adalyn Gower (4), Brooklynn Burnett (4), Abigail Martin (3), and Kinley Logeman (3).

• Dig leaders: Libby Conkle (15), Gower (13), Hallee Smallman (7), Hannah Edwards (6), and Martin (5).

• Hannah Edwards was tops in assists with 16 and aces with 3.

• Vickers recorded a team-high 4 blocks.

WIN- Game 2: Murphysboro (25-18, 25-11)

• A packed house... a perfect Massac vs Murphy environment... and a top-notch Lady Patriot's performance fueled the school's 7th Regional Championship trophy as Massac County advances to next week's Sectional tournament at Pinckneyville High School.

• Brooklynn Burnett turned in a dominating performance in the win recording 9 kills and 5 block points.

• Abigail Martin also had a tremendous night finishing 15 / 15 from the service line with 12 points to go with 11 digs, 2 kills, 2 aces, and 3 blocks.

• Adalyn Gower and Laken Vickers combined for 11 kills.

• Libby Conkle was tops in digs with 21.  Gower picked up 15 digs of her own.  

• Hannah Edwards tallied a team-high 19 assists.

Fairfield Invitational  (2nd Place- Gold Division)

• WIN- Game 1: Robinson  (25-18, 25-21)

  • It was sunrise to well after sunset day for the Lady Patriots at the Fairfield Invitational.  Massac finished in 2nd place overall falling to the host Fairfield Lady Mules in the championship match.

• The Massac Lady Patriots played spoilers on West Frankfort's senior night fending off the host Redbirds in 2-sets.

• Brooklynn Burnett owned the net racking up a team-high 10 kills to go with 2 blocks.  Kinley Logeman was also strong recording 8 kills of her own.

• Defensively, Libby Conkle was leader in digs picking up 18 in the win.  Adalyn Gower also had 12 digs as well.

• Abigail Martin and Laken Vickers each tallied 3 blocks.

• Hannah Edwards dished out a team-high 24 assists to go with 2 aces.

WIN- Anna-Jonesboro (25-8, 25-17)  

• On the Lady Pats "Senior Night", the stars shined bright with the four seniors carrying the load to earn the 2-set sweep over the visiting Lady Wildcats.

• Brooklynn Burnett- 5 kills, 11 / 11 hitting, 5 blocks with 2 block points, and 1 assist.

• Libby Conkle- 14 digs, 16 / 18 passing, 11 / 11 serve receive, 5 / 6 serving, and 1 ace.

• Adalyn Gower- 8 kills, 20 / 21 hitting,  12 digs, 8 / 9 serving, 6 service points, and 1 ace.

• Abigail Martin- 7 digs, 8 / 8 serving with 5 points, 3 / 3 setting with 1 assist, 1 block point, and 1 kill.

• Laken Vickers and Kinley Logeman combined for 12 kills.

• Hannah Edwards recorded a team-high 23 assists.

WIN- Carterville (25-12, 25-13)

• The Massac County Lady Patriots claimed the title of UNDEFEATED regular season conference champions on Tuesday night as they defeated the visiting Lady Lions.  This is the 2nd year in a row Massac has gone undefeated in the River-to-River Ohio Division.

• The Lady Patriot JV team also finished their 2023 conference schedule with an unblemished record of 8-0 and have improved their overall season record to 14-0.

• Kill leaders: Adalyn Gower (8), Brooklynn Burnett (6), Laken Vickers (4), Kinley Logeman (4), Abigail Martin (2), and Hannah Edwards (2).

• Dig leaders: Libby Conkle (15), Gower (8), Martin (7), Edwards (6), and Hallee Smallman (5).

• Block leaders: Martin (4), Vickers (3), Burnett (2).

• Assist leaders: Edwards (16), Conkle (2), Martin (2), and Smallman (1).

WIN- Herrin (25-16, 25-17)

• On a "Pink Out" night in front of a packed out gym, our Lady Patriots played a complete match defeating the host Tigers.  With the win, Massac County earned the title of outright River-to-River conference champions for the 2023 season!  This is the 3rd consecutive conference title for the Lady Patriots!

• Adalyn Gower and Laken Vickers each recorded 6 kills in the win.  Kinley Logemen chipped in 4 kills of her own.  Brooklynn Burnett, Lydia McCraw, and Hannah Edwards each recorded 2 kills as well.

• Dig leaders include Gower (11), Libby Conkle (10), Abigail Martin (8), Edwards (5), and Hallee Smallman (4).

• Conkle and Gower each tallied 3 aces on the night.

• Edwards was tops in assists recording 15.

WIN- Harrisburg (25-11, 25-7)

• Keeping their conference record unblemished on the year, Massac County rolled to a 2-set win over the Lady Bulldogs of Harrisburg.

• Senior Abigail Martin was the serving leader in the match serving a perfect 19/19 with 17 points and 4 aces.  Adalyn Gower recorded an additional 3 aces.

• Alyssa Towery was also perfect from the service line with a 9/9 night which included 8 points.

• Kill leaders include Laken Vickers (9), Brooklynn Burnett (8), and Gower (6).  Burnett was also tops in blocks tallying 4 points in the match.

• Hannah Edwards and Hallee Smallman combined to pick up 17 total digs.  Edwards also led the team with 17 assists.

WIN- Graves County, KY (25-13, 25-17)

• Monday night featured a cross-state rivalry match between our Lady Patriots and the Graves County Lady Eagles.  Massac County left little doubt en route to a 2-set sweep... at all levels.

• Adalyn Gower, Laken Vickers, Brooklynn Burnett, and Kinley Logeman each recorded at least 6 kills in the win.

• Senior libero, Libby Conkle was tops in digs with 13.  Gower picked up an additional 8 digs of her own... to go along with her 4 service aces.

• Abigail Martin, Burnett, and Vickers each scored a block point.

• Hannah Edwards was team-leader in assists tallying 22 in the win.

WIN- Murphsyboro (25-19, 26-24)

• In the rubber match of the Massac vs Murphy season series... our Lady Patriots came out victorious storming back from a 17-21 deficit in set 2 to earn the sweep!

• Kill leaders include: Adalyn Gower (9), Kinley Logeman (5), Brooklynn Burnett (5), and Laken Vickers (3).

• Dig leaders include: Gower (16), Conkle (12), Hannah Edwards (8), Logeman (5), and Hallee Smallman (4).

• Edwards (3) and Gower (2) led all Patriots in aces.

• Vickers recorded a team-high 3 block points.

• Edwards dished out 21 assists.

WIN- Carterville (25-15, 25-13)

• Our Lady Pats continued their winning ways pushing their current win streak to double digs as they took care of business on the road at Carterville.

• High efficient hitters were key as Laken Vickers (7 kills), Adalyn Gower (6 kills), and Kinley Logeman (4 kills) scored their points with a COMBINED 3 hitting errors.

• Defensively, Libby Conkle and Adalyn Gower combined for 24 digs.

• Gower was tops in aces serving up 6 in the match.

• Abigail Martin was the blocks leader scoring 2 points.

• Hannah Edwards recorded 15 assists in the win.

WIN- Herrin (25-8, 25-16)

• It's homecoming week in Massac County... and this homecoming was a sweet one... as our Lady Patriots cruised to a 2-set sweep of the visiting Tigers.

• Kill leaders: Adalyn Gower (8), Kinley Logeman (5), Laken Vickers (3), Brooklynn Burnett (2), and Hannah Edwards (2).

• Dig leaders: Gower (12), Libby Conkle (10), Abigail Martin (7), Logeman (7), and Edwards (4).

• Martin served up a team-high 4 aces.

• Edwards tossed out a team-high 15 assists.

• It was a slow start... but a FAST finish... as Massac County pushed their record to 2-0 in the River-to-River Ohio Division.

• The top Patriot attackers were Brooklynn Burnett and Adalyn Gower who recorded 10 kills and 9 kills respectively.  Laken Vickers put down 5 kills of her own.

• Dig leaders include Libby Conkle (25), Hannah Edwards (11), Abigail Martin (9), and Kinley Logeman (6). 

• Vickers, Martin, and Burnett each recorded at least 2 block points in the match.

• Edwards finished with 23 assists to go with her team-high 4 aces.

WIN- Murphysboro (25-16, 25-17)

• In their 2023 conference opener, our Lady Patriots were sharp on the road as they used a solid blocking effort to fend off the host Lady Red Devils.

• Offensively, outside hitters Adalyn Gower (11) and Kinley Logeman (7) were team leaders in kills.  

• Libby Conkle was the defensive leader picking up 28 digs.  Hallee Smallman, Gower, and Hannah Edwards each recorded at least 10 digs of their own.

• Edwards dished out a team-high 25 assists.

• Brooklynn Burnett tallied 8 total blocks in the match to go with her 3 kills.

• Kenna Hight finished 5 / 5 from the serving line with 5 points and 2 aces. 

Crossroads Classic @ Effingham High School (7th Place- Gold Division)

• LOSS- Game 1: Hermann, MO (22-25, 26-24, 20-25)

• WIN-   Game 2: Libertyville (4A) (25-20, 25-19)

• LOSS- Game 3: Ozark, MO (4A) (20-25, 16-25)

• LOSS- Game 4: Edwardsville (4A) (27-29, 23-25)

• WIN-  Game 5: Windsor/Stew-Stras (25-22, 25-19)

  • Our Lady Patriots proved they could go toe-to-toe with the big dogs earning a spot in the Gold Division and facing off against three Class 4A schools.

• Massac County used a quick start and aggressive serving to take a 2-set sweep of the host Terriers.

• Senior hitters Brooklynn Burnett and Adalyn Gower combined for 11 kills in the match.  Kinley Logeman recorded 6 kills of her own.

• Hannah Edwards led all Patriots with 14 assists.

• Dig leaders for Massac includes Abigail Martin and Gower who each picked up 12 digs.

• Laken Vickers was tops in blocking recording 5 points.

WIN- Edwards County (25-10, 25-17)

• In the Lady Patriot's home opener, our girls made quick work of the visiting Lions controlling the net all night long en route to the 2-set sweep.

• Seniors Brooklynn Burnett and Adalyn Gower combined for 15 kills on the night.  Kinley Logeman and Laken Vickers each chipped in with at least 3 kills of their own.

• Defensively, Libby Conkle led all Patriots with 12 digs on 12 / 12 passing.

• Hannah Edwards was the serving leader for Massac County recording 9 service points to go with her 22 assists.

• The top Patriot blocker was Burnett who tallied 8 total blocks with 3 producing points.

WIN- DuQuoin (25-16, 23-25, 25-22)

• Trailing 6-11 in the 3rd set, Massac County's Libby Conkle calmly ripped off 6 straight service points coming out of a Lady Patriot timeout to lift her team to a much needed come-from-behind road win.

• Offensive balance was on display for the Pats with Adalyn Gower, Laken Vickers, Kinley Logeman, and Brooklynn Burnett each recording at least 7 kills.

• Libero Libby Conkle picked up a team-high 29 digs to go with her team-high 19 service points.

• Hannah Edwards was the assist leader with 30.

• Vickers and Abigail Martin each tallied at least 6 blocks.

WIN- Marion (30-28, 25-21)

• It was a back-and-forth battle all night long for the Lady Patriot season opener with Massac remaining as cool as the other side of the pillow to pick up the 2-set sweep on the road.

• Senior middle hitter Brooklynn Burnett owned the net in both sets finishing with 8 kills and 2 stuff blocks.  Adalyn Gower led all Massac players recording 11 kills of her own.

• Hannah Edwards finished with 18 assists and Libby Conkle picked up a team-high 18 digs.

• Abigail Martin and Laken Vickers were the "most fearsome twosome" each recording 5 block points!
