In their season opener, the Lady Patriots had to overcome a slow start and a hard-hitting group from Marion. Set scores: 12-25, 25-20, 25-20
Statistical leaders for Massac County include seniors Laken Hoyer, Alexxus Thompson, & Taylor Stephens who combined for 17 kills and 9 blocks.
Libero Summer Smallman and outside Jessica Hunt combined for 34 digs.
Ellie Weber led all players with 12 service points.
WIN- Crab Orchard
Junior Caroline Thompson came in to help out her team with the setting duties lifting the Lady Pats to a 25-20, 25-22 win.
Offensively, Alexxus Thompson and Aubrey Biggers combined for 17 kills recording 9 kills and 8 kills respectively.
Emily Griffith recorded a team-high 4 blocks.
Jessica Hunt was a perfect 12/12 from the service line collecting 9 points and 2 aces.

A tenacious blocking effort from both teams kept things close for most of the night, but in the end it was Massac's serving and offensive firepower that wore out the Tigers winning in straight sets 25-17, 25-20.
Seniors Alexxus Thompson and Laken Hoyer led the offensive effort with 14 kills combined.
Jaden Fitzpatrick and Mollie Fisher provided some tough serving combining for 14 points and 7 aces.
Jessica Hunt was perfect 9/9 on serve receive and also recorded 4 digs.
SOUTHERN ILLINOIS PREVIEW TOURNAMENT
WIN- Mount Vernon 25-6, 25-23
LOSS- Waterloo 22-25, 25-20, 9-15
LOSS- Jackson, MO 25-23, 11-25, 10-15
Our Lady Pats failed to make the finals in the 35th annual Preview Tournament dropping two very close 3-set matches in pool play.
Jackson, MO (4-1) went on to win the tournament with Waterloo (4-1) finishing in 3rd place. Jackson's only loss came to Waterloo in pool play and Waterloo's only loss came to Jackson in the semi-final.
WIN- West Frankfort
In a VERY warm gym, Massac used tough serving from Mollie Fisher to lift the team to a 3-set conference win. Set scores were 25-17, 27-29, 25-7.
Mollie Fisher led all players with 20 service points and 8 assists.
Defensively, Aubrey Biggers led the way picking up a career high 23 digs and 9 kills.
Also tough at the net were Emily Griffith and Alexxus Thompson who tallied 3 block points apiece and 12 total blocks.
WIN- Carterville
In yet another 3-set epic battle, the Lady Pats were able to dominate the net in the 3rd set to defeat the Lady Lions 27-29, 25-22, 25-13.
Defensively, Jessica Hunt led all Massac players racking up 18 digs with zero passing errors.
At the net, the Lady Patriots' front line (Emily Griffith, Alexxus Thompson, Laken Hoyer) played great recording 16 total blocks.
Offensively, Aubrey Biggers and Alexxus Thompson tallied a combined 23 kills.
Setters Ellie Weber and Mollie Fisher tossed out a combined 22 assists.

In a nearly flawless performance, the Lady Red Devils held their ground at home defeating Massac 9-25, 19-25.
Statistical leaders for Massac include Laken Hoyer who racked up 4 block points in the match.
Alexxus Thompson tallied 5 kills with Ellie Weber tossing out 7 assists.
Ellie was also a perfect 7/7 from the service line with 2 aces.
WIN- Harrisburg
With a come-back effort in both sets, Massac overcame some scrappy Bulldog defense to win in straight sets 25-22, 25-21.
Leading the team in service points was Jaden Fitzpatrick who tallied 9 points and 3 aces on a perfect 12/12 serving.
Tossing out 12 assists on the night was Ellie Weber who notched a 36% assist.
Summer Smallman was a perfect 7/7 on serve receive.

Alexxus Thompson fueled the offensive fire-power slamming down 11 kills on 19 attacks. Aubrey Biggers tacked on 5 kills of her own.
Ellie Weber tossed out a game-high 9 assists and 8 service points.

Massac County was unable to get a break in the 3rd set with the Rangerettes dropping the match 22-25, 25-18, 25-19.
Mollie Fisher served great in the match connecting on 18 of 18 serving with 12 points.
Summer Smallman also had a good match picking up 20 digs.
Aubrey Biggers and Alexxus Thompson combined for 19 kills on the night with Ellie Weber tallying 15 assists.

The Lady Red Devils were able to hold off our Lady Pats despite a tightly contested first set. Set scores 30-28, 25-9.
Summer Smallman led all Massac players with 6 service points. Jaden Fitzpatrick recorded 2 aces.
Freshman Kayle Davis tallied 3 kills on just 7 attacks while also picking up 10 digs.
Mollie Fisher and Ellie Weber each contributed 4 assists.
WIN- Harrisburg
Despite 9 service errors from the Lady Pats, Massac was able to hold the lead and take a straight sets win over the Bulldogs 25-21, 25-17.
Alexxus Thompson and Kayle Davis combined for 20 kills.
Ellie Weber tossed out a game-high 11 assists and Mollie Fisher notched a 50% assist ratio with 6 assists on 12 sets.
Aubrey Biggers recorded 5 kills, 3 digs, and was 6/7 in serve receive.
WIN- Benton
To claim a share of 2nd place in the River-to-River Ohio conference, our Lady Patriots used a total team effort to defeat the Rangerettes 25-13, 25-19.
Statistical leaders for Massac include Laken Hoyer, Alexxus Thompson, and Kayle Davis who each contributed 5 kills apiece.
Summer Smallman led all servers with 10 service points. She also tallied 7 digs.
But blocking played a huge role in Massac's success as Laken, Alexxus, Taylor Stephens, and Emily Griffith combined for 13 total blocks with 7 producing points.

The Lady Patriots continued their winning ways dispatching the Lady Redbirds in 3-sets 25-17, 22-25, 25-9.
Alexxus Thompson led all hitters racking up 9 kills on 24 attacks.
Summer Smallman picked up 14 digs.
Ellie Weber tossed out 15 assists and 11 service points.
Mollie Fisher led all players with 5 aces on 14 total serves.

In a battle of cross-conference powers, our Lady Pats held serve at home defeating the Lady Wildcats 25-18, 25-22.
Statistically impressive for the Patriots were SENIORS Alexxus Thompson, Laken Hoyer, and Taylor Stephens who combined for 20 kills and 11 blocks!!!
Ellie Weber and Mollie Fisher led the offensive attack combining for 21 assists.
Summer Smallman picked up a team-high 8 digs. Brooke Stepter was close behind with 7 digs.
Jaden Fitzpatrick and Brooke Stepter each recorded 6 service points.
WIN- Cobden
It was "Pink Out" night for Massac County and Cobden's final regular season match. Remaining composed throughout a tightly contested match, the Lady Patriots were able to make some big defensive plays at the end leading to a 10-25, 25-23, 25-20 victory.
Offensively, Alexxus Thompson and Jessica Hunt combined for 20 kills. Laken Hoyer and Kayle Davis each contributed 5 kills as well.
With a 40% assist mark, setter Ellie Weber tallied 16 assists.
Kayle Davis and Jaden Fitzpatrick combined for 15 service points.
Defensively, Summer Smallman and Brooke Stepter combined for 17 digs.
