Functions

Mary Eats Cake is the place to celebrate! We regularly have groups celebrating milestone occasions with us. We are a popular location for Bridal showers, Baby showers and milestone Birthdays with these being the most widely booked functions. We also have anniversary parties, engagements and weddings, wakes and memorial services and occasionally business events.    

Functions can book our private tea rooms. Each room has a private room hire fee that gives them exclusive access to the room for the duration of their booking. With this exclusive access hosts can decorate the room in any way they like.

Each function has a dedicated team member that looks after them. This team member is responsible for ensuring the food and drink are served promptly and that the host and guest of honour have an enjoyable time. 

Process for function bookings

10 minutes before: Host and guests arrive. 

Allocated team members to introduce themselves to the host, ask any questions and explain the process of service. 

Start of session: All guests arrived

Allocated team member does group introduction where they outline the package inclusions and offer welcome drink to all guests ( for large functions ask another team member to assist with this) 

Within 30 minutes of the session starting: Food to be served

All guests should have food in front of them and have received their welcome drink. 

40 minutes into session: Tea top up

Ensure all tea warmers have a full pot of tea if welcome drinks have been finished remove glasses and offer another drink ( refer to package inclusions and booking notes to see if payment is required) 

45 minutes into session: Scone run 

Have the kitchen prepare a scone run for your room. Go around and offer every guest another scone. Ensure you give extra jam and cream. 

Throughout session: Maintenance- tea and scone suns

Continue to be present in room ensuring there is always tea and scones available

20 minutes until session finishes: Pre-clear room 

Start clearing empty plates and glasses from the table. Last call for drinks ( refer to package inclusions and booking notes to see if payment is required) 

10 mins until session finishes: Thank you and print the bill. 

Thank the host for choosing Mary Eats Cake. Let them know we will start clearing the room around them and that the session will be ending soon. If they have any outstanding amounts due print bill and give it to the relevant person.
