What we do in Key Stage 2

What we do in KS2

Teachers and Learning Support Assistants use a range of strategies to support children with SEND.

Staff receive support and training in SEND  to ensure that they know and understand the most up to date research and thinking in the provision of SEND.

This enables staff to provide the most appropriate support for both individual pupils and cohorts where required. For example pupils may be given more time to think about questions and answers, have learning outcomes adapted and the provision of suitable resources to help them to be successful.

Some pupils benefit from  adaptations made to the classroom environment to help them access learning e.g using specialised resources such as wobble cushions, finger spacers and chair bands.

Pupils are assessed regularly and interventions provided to help them to make progress  to help them to overcome barriers to learning.

Some pupils with SEND are also prepared for assessment tests and given additional time and adult support to ensure they perform to the best of their ability.

Pupils in Year 6 are provided with additional visits to thier chosen high school  to help them prepare for their transition.
