Helping our SEND pupils to shine

Our vision at Martham Academy and East Ruston Infant School is that we aim for our SEND pupils  to shine. Everybody has the ability to reach their potential in life and we recognise that our pupils may learn in different ways because of neurodiversity, differences or disabilities. This year, we are focussing on learning how we can improve our knowledge and practice on how to teach our SEND pupils in our classrooms.

To this end, we have had recent training in Dyslexia, Speech Language and Communication and Creating a Neuro-Diverse classroom.

We take regular advice from professionals such as a Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Specialist teacher and Educational Psychologist who visit us in our classrooms to support us.

Our mission is to help children and young people become more emotionally resilient and better placed to engage with life and learning.

We do this through our whole-school approach to wellbeing - proven to improve attendance, behaviour and attainment.

Embedded as a whole-setting approach within a primary school, Thrive not only supports the social and emotional development of all children but also helps to manage distressed behaviour and reduce exclusions.
