Our Concern:
This traffic safety campaign was developed by 9th Grade Girls Health in an effort to help BHS students realize the impact of traffic accidents and to encourage them to wear their seatbelts to prevent serious injury and/or death.
Our Goal:
By using the media listed below; we will promote traffic safety through our campaign efforts beginning April 24th, 2019 and ending May 1, 2019. Our campaign is designed to reach not only BHS students but also our community. We aim to increase seat belt usage among BHS students by 5% as evidenced by pre and post seatbelt checks to measure our campaign effectiveness.
Our Plan and Action:
April 24th: Pre-Seatbelt Check & Death by Motor Accident Demonstration
April 25th-April 26th: Student Traffic Safety Survey and iBuckleUp, weBuckleUp Campaign Video Montage
April 26th- May 1st: #bellefcclasetbeltselfie for a cookie
Our Follow-up:
May 1st: Post Seatbelt Check
Post a #bellefcclaseatbeltselfie on your personal social media accounts with a message encouraging others to buckle up. Hurry before our "Mystery Date" Post Seat Belt Check! All that can prove that they posted a selfie will receive a fresh baked cookie in the FACS room during advisory!
*Note: make sure vehicle is parked before taking and posting selfie.
3:30-3:45 pm Advisory: Traffic Safety Survey and Video Montage
Advisory Teachers, please download the attached powerpoint video for your advisory students to view. Do not open using google. If you don’t have a projector or sound in your room please let me know! The powerpoint video will guide students to complete a 5 question traffic survey. After completing the survey the presentation will instruct the teacher to click anywhere to advance to the next slide. The presentation will run itself from here as it explains the different parts of the traffic safety campaign as well as shares a video montage of traffic accidents. Thank you for being a part of our traffic safety campaign!
9:00-4:00 pm Death by Motor Accident Demonstration
The following students will check in with their second hour teacher before briefly reporting to the FACS Rm to receive a black T-shirt with their death by motor accident scenario and take a picture. They will wear the black shirt and scenario and will be asked to remain silent unless spoken to by a teacher the rest of the day as a representation of the 7% of Missouri teens who are involved on a motor vehicle accident which resulted in serious injury and/or death.
7:00-8:00 am Seat Belt Pre-Check in BHS Student Parking
9th Grade Girls Health and Belle FCCLA Chapter will team up with our local police department to conduct a seatbelt check in BHS student parking lot. This is just an action survey to measure the current amount of seat belt wearers at BHS. Students will not be ticketed for not wearing a seatbelt.
