Belle FCCLA's NLC Constants have been hard at work over the last couple of weeks preparing and uploading required documentation and video presentations onto their project web pages. Projects were completed and submitted last week. Now it is a waiting game...
June 8-13 and 15-20. NLC Evaluation teams conduct virtual review of submitted documentation and oral presentations and conduct video calls to discuss any scoring discrepancies. Lead Consultants submit scores to National Staff.
July 7-9. Don’t miss this amazing opportunity to make the first-ever virtual NLC a part of “Your Story” and kick-off FCCLA’s 75th anniversary by experiencing keynote speakers, taking part in breakout sessions, exploring a virtual EXPO, participating in online networking events, recognize National Program and STAR Events Winners and more!

Mackenzie Garner and Child Development for being selected as the 1st place winner of the Families First National Program Award for Missouri with their Families 1st Service Project.
Project Summary: Child Development students researched and developed quick interactive activities configured a booth presented at community events. Each activity encouraged parents in our community to celebrate families, strengthen parent-child relationships, overcome childhood obstacles as a family, manage multiple responsibilities and nurture learning and child development. One community event coordinator said “Besides for the sounds of laughter while playing the games and smiles on the students, children and parents faces; it was easy to see that everyone was engaged and learning!” A parent participant said, “The students were quick to get down on my child’s level and really explain each game to them while also helping me think through the processes while the game was in motion.” We received 95% positive written parent feedback slips. 1,259 total people reached through Public Relations Efforts, participants, and members involved.
Morgan Willis and 9th Grade Girls Health for being selected as the 1st place winner of the Student Body National Program Award for Missouri with their Blow Away Vaping Campaign.
Project Summary: Girls Family and Individual Health Students researched and developed engaging presentations tailored to appeal to Elementary through high schoolers in an effort to reduce the number of students who vape in our community. For the elementary school presentation students performed a small skit and presented a mini lesson on vaping. Elementary students played a fly swatter game testing activity to see how much they learned; achieving 80% accuracy. Students then presented an informational presentation on the health effects of vaping and games to middle schoolers to show the truth about what vaping does to our body. Students were encouraged to sign a pledge to not vape with 80% of students participation. A digital story for change was shown to high schoolers during an assembly showing that vaping can negatively affect their future. Students were encouraged to stand in front of a pledge backdrop to take a picture with and post on social media. Participants were rewarded with sundae cake. There was 65% participation of highschoolers posing our hashtag, (#blowawayvaping).
Alleigh Woolley for completing the Community Service National Program for Missouri with her Say Hello Project.
Project Summary: I was concerned that many in our society do not know how to interact with adults and children with a visible disability. By researching and drawing from my own experiences with my brother; I was able to prepare and present a heart felt professional presentation in the form of an open ended letter to my brother speaking of the importance of equal treatment of people with disabilities, advice on how to interact with an adult or child with a disability, and my wish for my brother. I was able to coordinate with teachers in my school to present my to their students. I had the opportunity to present to over 60 people. After my presentations I asked for feedback from my audience; as their comments were uplifting and filled with confidence to befriend those with visible disabilities. I created “Say Hello” water bottle stickers as a conversation starter to help spread my “Say Hello” movement. Yellow is for my brother, representing Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome; while burgundy represents disabilities of all kinds. This token is a reminder to “Say Hello” the next time you see someone with a disability instead of just walking by, trying not to stare.

Career Investigation recognizes participants for their ability to perform self-assessments, research and explore a career, set career goals, create a plan for achieving goals, and describe the relationship of Family and Consumer Sciences coursework to the selected career.

National Programs in Action recognizes participants who explain how the Planning Process was used to plan and implement a national program project. Families First is an FCCLA national peer education program through which youth gain a better understanding of how families work and learn skills to become strong family members. Its goals are to: help youth become strong family members and leaders for today and tomorrow and strengthen the family as the basic unit of society.
Kaylei Robertson Region 13 GOLD in Repurpose Redesign with her Entertainment Center Project.
Repurpose and Redesign recognizes participants who apply recycling and redesign skills learned in Family and Consumer Sciences courses and create a display using a sample of their skills. Participants select a used fashion, home, or other post consumer item to repurpose into a new product. Participants create a brand-new product, but may not simply embellish an old one. However, participants may use additional materials if needed to redesign and creatively embellish the new product. At the event site, participants set up their displays and present the results of their projects to evaluators.

Professional Presentation recognizes participants who make an oral presentation about issues concerning Family and Consumer Sciences and/or related occupations.

Only Fifteen (15) entries across the nation are invited to present their online project plus an oral presentation, at the National Leadership Conference. Only entries with scores of 70 or above will be eligible for National Leadership Conference consideration.
Morgan Willis Top 15 in the Nation Digital Stories for Change for her Blowing Away Vaping Video.
Digital Stories for Change identify an issue concerning families, careers and communities through a digital story to advocate for positive change. This year's topic was "Transforming Your Community, One Action at a Time."
By developing a video for change for high-schoolers, we will show them that vaping, smoking, and doing drugs can cause lifelong medical problems and negatively affect their future goals. By one week after our assembly we will have 65% of our student body participate in our anti-vaping hashtag Instagram campaign pledging not to vape.

By creating a digital story about The FCCLA Movie Night, uploading it to the Belle FCCLA website and sharing with my school and community; we will inform and encourage people to come enjoy a family friendly environment. We will bring families and people together with some family movies.
