This week we have welcomed everyone back to Marden Primary Academy and what a week it has been! Year 6 kicked off their week with Safety in Action and then had an amazing enrichment opportunity in Ypres. I want to thank the children for their excellent conduct and to all of the staff who have worked so hard, not only on the long day itself but in the planning for this event.
We were also visited by Kerrie Carpenter, Senior Education and Engagement Outreach Officer of the UK Parliament, to have a parliament talk. We believe in teaching the British Values of democracy and the rule of law and talks like these are invaluable.
As you know, we take safeguarding very seriously here at Marden Primary Academy and in a recent audit, a couple of things have come to light which requires closer attention. Firstly, we would like to politely remind you that dogs are unfortunately not allowed on site. Please see the attached policy: Dogs on School Grounds. Secondly, the one-way system was put into place as a result of the pandemic, to reduce contact. However, the risk of walking through the car park could have greater ramifications for the safety of our children. Therefore, from the week beginning 20.6.22 the main gate will be the only point of entry and exit. Year 5 and 6 will also come into school via the main gate and enter/exit through the school kitchen door. This will be explained again in a letter next week.
Finally, we would like to remind everyone that next Friday is for Fathers or a special friend to attend the Father's Day Activities at Marden Primary Academy. Please see the details below for more information and we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible next week.
Have a great weekend.

Office Messages
With effect from 1st September 2022, we will no longer be accepting cash or cheque payments at Marden Primary Academy. All payments for dinner money, wraparound care, trips etc will need to be made via credit or debit card in the My Child At School (MCAS) app.
Alternatively, you will be able to request a Paypoint barcode from the office and use this to make cash payments at Marden Stores.
With effect from 1st September 2022 all sessions for Breakfast Club and Late Stay Club will need to be booked and paid for in advance via the Wraparound Care section on the My Child At School (MCAS) app. Parents will no longer be able to create negative balances or pay for sessions at a later date. If you normally pay via Childcare Vouchers, these will need to be processed in advance so we can credit account balances on My Child At School.
There will also be a 24-hour notice period required for cancellations.
Discord is a free app which allows users to communicate in real time via text, video or voice chat. Available on desktop and mobile devices, it was originally designed to help gamers cooperate – but has evolved into a more general networking platform for a range of online communities, discussing topics like TV series, music, Web3 and more. Discord is organised around closed groups, referred to as ‘servers’. To join a server, users must be invited or provided with a unique link. It’s a space for users to interact with friends, meet others with shared interests and collaborate in private online — but it’s also a place where young people can be exposed to risks if the right precautions aren’t taken.
In the guide, you'll find tips on a number of potential risks such as cyberbullying, predators and inappropriate content.
