Central idea: Children encounter a range of risk, challenges and opportunities.
A copy of the portrait that won the Marden village 'Queen Portrait' competition for the Jubilee, created by Leah. Well done Leah!
We started the new Module by reflecting on Module 5, thinking about everything we had learnt and what we really enjoyed doing (we have shared some of this on our Google Site). We looked at our new central idea, pulling apart what it means and completed a knowledge harvest. We had a really interesting conversation about the difference between 'wants' and 'needs' and challenges and opportunities children face. Our new reading comprehension text is a biography about Malala Yousafzai. We began our first line of inquiry looking at the opportunities that children have in the UK. We had a really meaningful discussion about opportunities and then completed some emotive poetry looking at the rights of a child. We are so proud of every child in the class for their fantastic and thought-provoking poems. Well done! In PE we started a new topic of rounders which we all really enjoyed!
