Central idea: People can go on vacation to explore different communities.
In inquiry this week we began by reflecting on our previous unit of inquiry and the children gave their responses to include on our class inquiry site, this is accessible to parents for an overview of the entire term's inquiry. The children also shared their inquiry projects they completed over the half term. It was lovely to see how much consideration had gone into their villages/ housing estates. The children's knowledge and understanding of last terms inquiry was clear while they were presenting and explaining their designs and models!
After reflecting, we began our next module starting with a knowledge harvest. The children had a great discussion and there was a real buzz across the class for this next inquiry. We then began our first line of inquiry 'What a vacation is' and used atlases to focus on the seven continents and 5 oceans.
In maths we continued with fractions, specifically counting fractions, mixed fractions and writing fractions as decimals.
In PE we began our new topic of athletics, which the children really enjoyed!
