Central idea: Human behaviour can affect the survival of our planet.
We begun this week by reflecting on our central idea from Module 5, focusing on 'Communities provide services designed to meet people's needs'. Please enjoy reading our reflections on our class site here.
We then started our exploration into our new transdisciplinary theme and central idea. As we are focusing on the survival of our planet, we thought it would be wise to explore our planet and what habitats can be found within it. We focused on global biomes first, which are areas on our planet with similar climates etc, working on our map skills within this. It then provided us with the springboard into exploring different habitats within these, such as coastal or desert habitats. Our writing this week therefore centred on us placing ourselves within one of these habitats and describing it using our senses and high-level vocabulary.
Our reading has been centred on a collection of animal themed poems, with our favourite clearly being the poem about the pet shop which only sells dangerous animals. Worryingly, too many of us want a pet anaconda now!
In our maths this week, we have carried on our work on measurements by comparing and ordering different lengths (whilst using both cm and m) and have even started solving word problems involving length and height.
Please remember outdoor learning takes place on the following days: Monday 13th June, Monday 27th June and Monday 11th July. It is recommended that you wear long trousers for this because the grass is long.
