Central idea: Architecture as a form of expression reflects culture and history.
It is fair to say that Year 6 have thoroughly enjoyed our inquiry so far. They have gained excellent knowledge about architecture, and they have used this to consider the plans for our school expansion. As a result of their learning, they have decided that as their action they would write to the Estates Director of Leigh Academies Trust, and propose an eco-friendly area, with green architecture at the forefront of their plans. We are going to send their letters and plans off and hopefully get a reply back!
We cannot stress how important it is for the children to be practising their times tables daily; this is to support them in all areas of their maths learning. Over this week, we have been learning to convert between units of measurement. We have learned about metric and imperial measurements, thinking about whether we are timesing or dividing to convert between each one.
In our writing lessons we have been learning about formal and informal language, using our skills to write some fantastic letters!
