Central idea: Artforms can be used to express ideas and feelings.
This week we have delved into our third line of inquiry exploring the characters of The Nutcracker using our expanded noun phrases in our descriptive writing. We were very fortunate to be able to interview dancer Christopher Black, who shared some insight into the world of performing and the life of a dancer which helped us to think more deeply about the performance of The Nutcracker and how dancers bring personality to the dances. We ended the week designing and making a puppet of our chosen character out of a sock to perform our own version.
In maths, we have been looking at multiplication and division using the 2 times tables. The children have started to recognise patterns and rearrange the number sentences to show this in a different form.
On Thursday we had our only dress rehearsal for the nativity and performed for the rest of the school. The children were amazing and did not need to use their prompt cards for their lines, all remembering when and where to be on the stage and looked fantastic in their costumes. We can not wait to put the show on for parents/guardians on Monday and we would like to thank you for supporting them at home.
