Central idea: People can go on vacation to explore different communities
We have had another busy week this week for our inquiry. We have started looking at the Ancient Egyptians and the children have loved reading and researching about how they lived. One highlight for the children was creating some 'Top Trump' cards based on Egyptian pharaohs, which they also loved challenging each other in various different games. We have also finally enjoyed spray painting our Banksy inspired souvenir cushions.
Within maths we have been learning to tell the time, which the children are starting to grasp a lot more and are beginning to understand durations. This week we have also consolidated our learning of place value and column methods of addition and subtraction of three digit numbers to support them when they transition to year 4.
In our writing, the children have produced some amazing non-chronological reports (tourist brochures) about Folkestone. They included some detailed and relevant facts about Folkestone, brought to life by their experiential school trip!
This week, children have learnt what good friendship is and what happens when things go wrong. We made freeze frames to show our strategies when friends quarrel. The discussion and quality of their contributions during these lessons has been so mature, we are very proud of year 3.
