Year 5 have begun their new inquiry topic, focusing on the Anglo-Saxons and their migration to Britain. They have had the opportunity to be immersed in the Anglo-Saxon lifestyle during their 'Portals from the Past' day. Year 5 especially enjoyed re-enacting the Battle of Hastings and getting to explore a range of weapons that the Anglo-Saxons may have used. We even had the chance to learn some of the language they would have spoken!
Year 5 have started writing a persuasive letter, linking to their inquiry, focusing on modal verbs. They have been able to create their Anglo-Saxon village, from their writing, as a 3D model, which they enjoyed creating on World Book Day. We have started reading their core text 'Viking Boy'.
Year 5 are revisiting fractions in maths. They have looked at multiplying fractions and integers, as well as fractions of amounts.
