Central idea: Evidence of past civilisations can be used to make connections to present day societies
We have enjoyed starting our new inquiry for this module. We have been lucky enough to get some Stone Age artifacts from Maidstone Museum and we have enjoyed looking at them and working out what the tools were used for. This week we have come to the end of our first line of inquiry where we looked into what civilisations are. The children created some beautiful zig-zag books, explaining everything about civilisations and settlements.
In writing we have been creating a narrative based on the story 'Stone Age Boy'. The children have produced some wonderful character and setting description using some amazing vocabulary generated from looking at the pictures from the story.
In maths we have continued to look at measuring length and have begun to measure and calculate perimeter of different shapes. We are now starting our unit on fractions, please talk with your child at home using practical examples to share a half, quarter, three quarters, wholes and equal parts.
