Central idea: History can be a journey of discovery.
What a fantastic week we have had! The children have really engaged with our learning about the Gunpowder Plot and in particular the role of Robert Catesby. They have really enjoyed the source work and thinking about the Catholics and Protestants and how history changes the way we think. This is fantastic preparation for our forthcoming trip to the Tower of London.
In writing, the children have created a 'book insert' all about Robert Catesby, thinking about his early life, the Gunpowder Plot and the legacy he left behind which forms a huge part of our history today and is remembered every 5th November.
In maths, we have continued our topic of fractions where the children have been able to recognise unit fractions and non unit fractions as well as consolidating their learning of recognising a half, a third and a quarter.
We also started our science topic this week looking at properties of materials and the three states of matter which the children found really interesting, especially when considering the 'gases' in popular carbonated drinks.
