Central idea: Personal choices can impact the environment.
We continued looking at how human actions are impacting the planet.
The children have been extremely passionate about reusing items before they reach the bin so that less goes to waste. As I reached the end of my flipchart paper, Tabitha quickly exclaimed that I could not throw it in the recycling yet as we could use the back of the paper to draw on first. This gave us an idea, we had a look at all of the paper that was going straight into the recycling boxes around the school, collected it up and began making our own paper.
First we ripped the paper into small pieces working on our fine motor skills. Then we added water and began mixing. Soon we will need to blend, press and dry it ready to reuse in our classroom.

We took the ipads out to photograph litter, to highlight quite how much litter is around our school. The children spoke about how sad it made them feel. We edited our images changing the filters to show negative colours reflecting the negative impact littering has on the world.
