Central idea: Maintaining peace and resolving conflict can help humans to live harmoniously.
Year 5 have worked exceptionally hard showing their resilience and perseverance in sitting the year 5 mocks and taking part in the LAT Maths Tournament. I am very proud of them!
In maths we have learnt effective strategies for adding and subtracting decimals which has helped with their pace and accuracy. In English we have been studying and performing the poem 'The Soldier' by Rupert Brooke.
In inquiry, the children have been researching and creating World War One timelines illustrating the causes of the conflict and they have also described what life was like in the trenches. The class have ad interesting discussions on the impact of the war on the soldiers from reading our core text 'Stay Where You Are and Then Leave' by John Boyne. We look forward to World War One day on Thursday 4th July.
