Central idea: People have a responsibility to understand how to look after living things.
Over the past fortnight we have continued our learning about plants. We have learnt about the different plants we have here in Marden, and the wildlife this brings to the local area. We have also planted our own cress seeds in small teams and watched them grow, writing instructions about how to plant and look after our seeds. We have started to expand our thinking about our responsibility for plants in the local area and plants around the world, and how these plants support wildlife. We enjoyed looking at plants we might find in desert climates, feeling the leaves of these plants to help us understand how they store water and withstand such dry climates.
In maths we have been learning about money, becoming familiar with different notes and coins and practising our skills of counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.
We have been using our writing skills to create our own endings to the book 'Jasper's beanstalk' and it was lovely to read the creative ideas the children have come up with and we look forward to them writing their own stories about a magical seed this week!
Reminder: We will be going on our school trip to Tyland Barn on Monday. Please refer to the original letter you received to let you know what the children will need to bring with them.
