Principal's Message

It was lovely to see so many parents/carers at Parents Evening on yesterday. We hope this was useful and provided you with an update on your child’s progress and attainment in school.

Thank you to Reverend Nicky for welcoming us into the Church for a whole school assembly this week, the children and staff thoroughly enjoyed this event.

I would also like to thank the PTA for providing the eggs for the Easter Egg hunt, this was a fantastic event for the children to take part in at the end of term. They have also kindly agreed to buy the school some playground equipment kits. These will be arriving after the Easter break ready to use during the summer term. The PTA are always looking for additional volunteers to join the team. If you would be interested in supporting the school in this way please contact the school office.

Mr Moore is sadly leaving us today. We would like to thank him for all of his hard work and wish him well for his new adventure.

As we reach the end of term, I would like to say a big thank you to all of you for your ongoing support. I hope you all have a lovely break and we look forward to welcoming the children back on Monday 15th April

Andrew Parry Music - Woodwind Lessons

We are very lucky at Marden Primary Academy to have a wide variety of music tuition on offer for children.  Andrew Parry Musicians currently provide excellent music tuition during the school day for violin, piano, guitar, recorders and drums and we are very happy to share with you information about his new woodwind teacher:

My new teacher Caroline Fernandes is a superb woodwind player and teacher, and is a multi-instrumentalist so can teach clarinet, flute and saxophone, which means it is a great opportunity to start something new! I am passionate about woodwind having learned myself towards the end of primary school and into secondary school, and the opportunities it gives you further down the line playing in orchestras and so on is something quite special. And something I really want to try and encourage and grow in the area.

To encourage some new starters, I am offering a discount on lesson prices and rent to buy, making it really affordable to give it a go.

I will be offering £1 off all lessons plus 50% off rent to buy payments in Terms 5 and 6, meaning the updated cost are as follows:

- Individual 30 minutes - £16 - £15

- Individual 20 minutes - £11 - £10

- Group 30 minutes - £8.50 - £7.50 per child

Rent to buy payments - total cost depends on the instrument but usually £30 per term - £15 per term (once you have signed up we will send more info here)

This makes group lessons in particular really affordable - which means half a term of group lessons plus a rent to buy payment would only be £52.50! This is ideal if your child has a friend the same age and experience that we can group together. Groups of 2-3 are ideal (we can even do 4). Individual lessons are also absolutely fine if your child would rather.

For more information and to apply, please visit our website and make sure you click ‘Apply for standard lessons’ - we will then automatically add the discount to any new woodwind starters at your child’s school (clarinet, flute and saxophone lessons only): www.andrewparrymusic.com

Clarinet and flute generally are good to start from Year 3 upwards, and saxophone from Year 5 upwards

National Online Safety

While scrolling online, you’ll almost inevitably have come across posts or links with headlines like “You Won’t Believe These 10 Crazy Facts about …”. Such lurid language – and the often-dubious nature of the content it promotes – has become something of a running joke on the internet. Yet while these articles are often laughed at by communities online, they can have an insidious side.

Clickbait, as it’s known, can frequently function as part of a trap: intended to draw users in for the sake of advertising revenue or, in worse cases, masking and attempting to collect their personal information. This #WakeUpWednesday guide explores the various risks of clickbait and offers some top tips for evading the pitfalls of this controversial marketing technique.
