5Chestnut  Learning Update

Central idea: People with different beliefs may struggle for rights and freedoms.

Our assembly on Monday was a live lesson in which we joined the 'Restart a Heart' team to learn CPR and what to do in an emergency.  The children were very sensible and enjoyed practising CPR on their teddies and listening to the important message from the team about how to have a go in restarting a heart or keeping a heart going.

In maths we have been super busy! We have covered cube numbers as well as multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000. The children have practised moving the digits to the left and right of the place value chart, depending on the operation which they are carrying out.

I have been very impressed with the children's publishing this week. We have written short narratives which they have enjoyed publishing on a digital platform called 'Book Creator.'  We are looking forward to sharing these with you at some point.

We have had a busy start to Year 5 and the children are looking forward to the half term break.  Thank you for your support with the children's home learning this term, as a class we thoroughly enjoyed sharing each other's efforts.  There will be a new selection of activities for next term but please do encourage your child to read and practise their times tables in any spare minutes that they may get over the half term break.

Thank you again for your continued support - we really do appreciate it!
