5Cedar   Learning Update

Central idea: People with different beliefs may struggle for rights and freedoms.

We started this week with an assembly on Monday with the 'Restart a Heart' team to learn CPR and what to do in an emergency.  It was great to see the children focused and enjoying themselves practising CPR on their teddies

In maths we have covered a range of topics from square numbers to multiples and factors. The children have worked really hard to learn the new vocabulary and to explain their approach to solving questions. By multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000, the children have practised moving the digits to the left and right of the place value chart, depending on the operation which they are carrying out. This has enhanced their place value knolwedge and confidence with number. It was excellent to see them grow in confidence as the week went on.

The children have worked extremelly hard on writing their narrative to include direct speech, relative clauses and expanded noun phrases. They have been great at telling the story and reading out their work. Finally, we started to publish their work which the children have thoroughly enjoyed typing up their work and adding pictures in to make an online book.

It has been a wonderful start to the academic year!  Thank you for your support with the children's home learning this term. Cedar class loved sharing and displaying their home learning. There will be a new selection of activities for next term but please do encourage your child to read and practise their times tables in any spare minutes that they may get over the half term break.

Thank you again for your continued support - we really do appreciate it!
