4WB Learning Update

Central idea: Children encounter a range of risk, challenges and opportunities.

We have started to look at our second line of inquiry, 'the challenges that children face around the world' and did some fantastic narrative writing about the life of a refugee using a short film as stimulus. We then took our most emotive phrases and turned these into a poem titled 'A tragic moment'. We also performed these poems to the class. Working with paint, we colour mixed to create pieces of artwork which we then presented our finished poems on. The children worked really hard with this and achieved some fantastic writing. Well done.

We also celebrated Pride month and wrote some Pride inspired collaborative poetry. Our RSE lesson saw us looking at friendships and what makes a good friend. In Science, we looked at the best place to install fire alarms in the school and conducted an experiment. At the start of the week we were looking at reading line graphs in maths and then began a new topic of angles focusing on quarter, half, three quarter and whole turns and right angles.
