1/2S Learning Update

Central idea: Humans make choices which may affect Earth's resources.

Our inquiry has taken us to the island of Sumatra where we have explored the rainforest. We were amazed to find out that there were so many different species of mammals, fish and amphibians in the Sumatran rainforest. We have been particularly concerned about the plight of the Sumatran Orangutan and we have started collecting facts to create a fact file.

Carrying on with our inquiry into deforestation, we have now started to look at the consequences of cutting and burning down the rainforests. Our reading focus is The Great Kapok Tree and we are really enjoying the colourful illustrations within it.

In Y1 maths we have started our topic on Time. Over the next few weeks, your support with recognising o'clock and half past the hour will really benefit the children's learning.

In Y2 maths we have continued exploring measurement with a focus on mass and capacity, applying this to a range of scenarios, both practical and theory.
